Mike’s first job was bagging steer manure in a garden supplier s but he always felt he was destined for more! A highly successful career in finance followed and he set up his own firm in 2003. Things were going really well but in 2015 his girlfriend was murdered by a previous boyfriend who then committed suicide. At this point Mike realised material success wasn’t so important and decided to make some changes. He started by developing some non-profit housing projects and then looking at the problem of gender based violence.
Mike sold his company in 2019 so he could spend more time sharing his emotional reconnection message. He co-founded the Ignore No More Run For Respect to help engage men and boys in the gender equity conversation. His keynote addresses on the importance of emotional intelligence have been heard all across North America and include his 2017 Tedx The Way Men Think of Strong Is Wrong.
