Over the next twenty years he developed his career in Miami eventually becoming Programme Director. Life was looking very good but, on reflection, Kim realises he may have had some early indications of Multiple Sclerosis but had ignored them.
In 2004, when visiting his Mother, she mentioned that his walking had deteriorated and urged him to see his doctor. After three months of tests, he was finally diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The severity of the diagnosis led to him immediately retiring from the station. The illness took control of his body and life but ten years later there was better news. Kim’s doctor had found some research about a new medication he thought would help. This, along with the addition of Vitamin D started to level things out. Since then, Kim has embarked on a writing career and has so far published two books.
Kim is now based north of Denver Colorado. He thinks the love and support of his wife, along with his optimistic outlook and attitude have been key in helping him to embrace the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis. and realise life can be good even in the face of adversity.
